Day 1: Marrakech - Ait ben Haddou - Dades Valley
Our 4 Days from Marrakech to Merzouga Desert begins with pick-up from your hotel, riad, or hostel.
You will drive through the stunning Atlas Mountains, stopping at scenic viewpoints for photos. The first major stop is the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a historic fortress
Ait Ben Haddou is a beautiful ancient village in Morocco that looks like a scene from a movie. It is made of clay and mud-brick houses, which are built on a hill near a river. This village is famous for its stunning architecture and has been used in many films, like “Gladiator” and “Game of Thrones.” Visitors can walk through its narrow streets and see the old buildings, enjoy the amazing views of the surrounding mountains, and learn about the rich history of the area. After exploring this ancient site, you will enjoy a traditional Berber lunch.
The journey continues to Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa” due to its film studios. From there, you will travel through the Rose Valley before reaching Dades Valley, where you will spend the night in a comfortable riad or hotel.
Day 2: Boumaln Dades - Sahara Desert - Night in the Desert Camp
After breakfast, you will again by Dades Valley, enjoying the desert landscapes and passing through Tinghir, that is surrounded by a vast oasis of date palms, which provide a fertile area for agriculture, particularly the cultivation of dates.
Next, you will pass through Erfoud, a town famous for its fossils, before arriving in Merzouga. In the afternoon, you will meet your camel guide, who will take you on a sunset camel ride across the dunes of Erg Chebbi.
At the desert camp, you will enjoy a traditional dinner, listen to Berber music by the campfire, and sleep under a sky full of stars.
Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate
Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the desert. After breakfast, you will ride your camel back to Merzouga, where your driver will be waiting. You will then visit Rissani, which is known as the birthplace of the Alaouite dynasty, the current royal family of Morocco, which adds to its historical importance. a lively town with a traditional market where locals trade spices, clothing, and handmade goods.
The journey continues through Alnif and the Draa Valley, home to Morocco’s longest river and lush palm groves. After lunch in a small village, you will drive through the Anti-Atlas Mountains before arriving in Ouarzazate for the night.
